Ugh, this is the part I hate the most. The “ABOUT ME” section. I always sound so boring. Wife, mom, blah blah. I’m 53 and have been married for 30 years. We have 3 girls, 26, 23, and 18. Our baby is a senior in high school and we are would-be empty nesters but our middle daughter is living at home and our 18 year old will go to JuCo and live at home. I’m very happy about that because I’m not ready to have my kids be gone (dysfunctional?). I love, love, love to read – Philippa Gregory, Jodi Picoult, loved the Twilight series (in my younger days, I loved Stephen King but now he creeps me out a little). Right now I’m reading the Mitford series by Jan Karon and really enjoying it. I love old movies and all kinds of music – Rod Stewart, John Mellencamp, James Taylor, Elvis, stuff from 60s and 70s, country, rock, a teeny tiny bit of hip hop and maybe 1 rap song. God, family, friends are the things most important to me. I work as a para educator (teacher’s aide) in the gifted classroom at a junior high and have for almost 10 years. I’m conservative but try to look at both sides of all issues except the ones I consider to be moral issues. I don’t budge on those but don’t consider myself to be judgmental either. I try to understand people and look at things from their point of view even though I don’t always agree. I believe that love conquers all, I believe in being kind and treating others with respect and dignity. (All this being said, I am hugely sarcastic but in a respectful way - wink.) I believe prayer works and know that ultimately, God is in control BUT I don’t believe we are puppets that He controls – we are all accountable and responsible for our own actions and the consequences of said actions. I have no idea how to blog but want to try it because it seems a good way to vent and we all need to vent. I have a younger friend that I asked for advice and she told me not to embarrass my kids. If I can’t embarrass my kids then why blog?
